Semi-automated workflow for publishing and maintaining automotive inventory on Facebook Marketplace, starting from the dealership's real data.
The challenge
Facebook Marketplace is one of the best-performing channels for selling cars, but keeping it up to date by hand is unworkable with a large inventory. Fully automating it is not the answer either: the platform has rules, and breaking them gets the account blocked.
What I built
- Inventory extraction from the dealership website, with the information and visual assets already organized.
- Listing preparation — description, price, photos and vehicle data ready to publish without entering them again.
- Automation with Playwright for repetitive steps, while retaining human oversight before publication.
- Inventory reconciliation: detects which vehicles are no longer available so their listings can be removed.
The result
What used to take hours of copying and pasting every week now takes minutes.
One design decision is worth explaining: the workflow is intentionally semi-automated. A person still approves each listing before it is published. Automating 100% would have been technically simpler and commercially irresponsible—the accounts get blocked, and the client loses the channel.
