Native application for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision, published on the App Store. It calculates the true monthly payment for a car before you set foot in the dealership.
The challenge
Almost nobody walks in to buy a car knowing what they will actually pay. State tax, dealer fees, title, registration, GAP insurance and an extended warranty are added to the price. The calculation happens at the salesperson's desk, under pressure and with no way to compare.
What I built
- All 50 states preloaded with their tax rates, so the calculation uses your state's rate instead of an average.
- Compare up to 3 scenarios — dealership financing versus your bank's offer, side by side.
- Trade-in calculator including the tax savings it generates.
- Complete breakdown: total cost, interest, dealer fees, GAP, warranty, title and registration.
- Save and share calculations, plus dark mode.
- Interface built with SwiftUI, compatible with iOS 17 and later, with support for iPad, Apple Silicon Mac and Apple Vision.
The result
App published and approved on the App Store, currently at version 1.1.0. It is 6.5 MB and works offline.
Covering the full cycle—native development, Apple review, publication and subsequent updates—is different from delivering a website. The product has to pass another company's review before it can even exist.
